Welcome to the Mohawk Valley

The mission of the Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor Commission is to preserve, promote and celebrate the natural, cultural, and historic assets of the Mohawk River Valley to enhance its quality of life and stimulate economic vitality.
The Commission is a facilitator of new initiatives, partnership broker, information provider, and most of all the keeper of a region-wide vision for heritage-based revitalization and tourism. The Heritage Corridor offers a means of sustainable community development that emphasizes stewardship and respect for the region's cultural and natural resources.

As the voice of the Mohawk Valley Heritage Area, the Commission advocates and facilitates a region approach to tourism and community development. Only an integrated coalition of local, state, and federal funding sources working together over time can realize the full potential within the Corridor. MVHC is proactive in identifying and matching such resources with regional needs.

Christopher P. Destito

(March 26, 1955 - January 21, 2010)

The Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor mourns the passing of a good friend and a former commissioner.  This Observer-Dispatch tribute captures the essence of a man we shall miss tremendously.
